Annual Seniors Christmas Dinner - Fourteen Lions prepared a full course Christmas supper for 70 district seniors with entertainment and also Mr and Mrs Claus attended.Donations received were $620.00 and $ 125.00 was donated to the Meadow Lake and District Music Festival a yearly donation from the Lions Club.
Held one meeting in December as a Christmas Social for members families and friends.33 people in attendance which included 20 members, 2 youth from the summer youth camp and 2 youth from Australia participating in the Youth Exchange Program . Made 2 presentations of Melvin Jones Fellowships to Lion Ron Sack and Lion Ray Berry.
Santa Claus Day - Children visit Santa and are provided a Christmas treat.40 children treated to hot dogs and hot chocolate at skating rink get together. 50 Elderly in the community are also visited by Santa.
Santa Clause Day - Organized a day for all the local children to come meet Santa clause and go for a sleigh ride. This year was a huge succes moved it to thr rink and over tripled the kids that came. had a total of 128.
Christmas Lghts - Each year our Club conducts a Christmas Lights Contest in our community. No entry fee or registration is required. Volunteer members judge residential displays of christmas lights during an announced time period in two categories: village and rural. Two winners are declared in each category and they will receive free steak suppers during our community's Open Bonspiel in February. Previous winners are not eligible.
Children's Christmas Hayride - Annual Christmas Hayrides provided for children/adults in Broadview on December 13th. Approximately 70 people attended as it was a warm day -- plus 6 deg. C. with little snow so a wagon and horses were used. Free hot dogs with hot chocolate/coffee provided by Lions Club.
Curling - Each year our Club sponsors a team in our local curling draw. Any club member is eligible to play on the team which participates once or twice a week as a way of supporting our local Curling Club
Santa Day - Our club arranged for Santa to be delivered via fire truck, and to visit with young children while parents took pictures. Each child who visited with Santa received a treat bag put together by Lions' elves. 90 bags were prepared, and after about 70 children visited with Santa, he and his helper went to the local hospital to deliver treats to patients of all ages.
Food Bank - At the Rhein District Lions Club regular meeting and Christmas party held on December 9th, 16 members of the Rhein District Lions Club and five guests brought non-perishable food items to be donated to the Yorkton Food Bank, which was administered through the Salvation Army. This donation was to help make up Christmas hampers for families in need.
SARCAN Returns - The club has a Sarcan drop off building that residents can donate their recycle items. Our club will sort, and take them into Sarcan and put this money to work in the community. urns -
Wrapping presents - Decorating the school/community hall with Christmas decorations for the School Christmas Concert and Community School Dinner. Two Lions members were Mr and Mrs Claus also for the concert.
Diaster Help - Dec 3rd experienced a major disaster with 8 homes being demolished in a natural gas explosion in the center of town. Lions mustered to assist in Emergency management duties, security to danger area and traffic and security of the devastated area Sask Energy covered costs for displaced persons
Dickens Festival - Our club supported the annual Dickens festival. many members volunteered their time to various jobs and assisted at various events. Prepared a float for the parade and sold baked potatoes as a fund raiser.
Operation Red Nose - is a service to party attendees who may have consumed too much alcohol to legally drive their vehicle. One volunteer drives their vehicle home while another follows to pick up the driver. ORN is becoming increasingly popular
Christmas Dinner - Our Club encouraged support for a Food Bank in a neighboring town by inviting donations during Community Christmas Supper. Donors received a reduction in the cost of the meals they purchased.
VIP Bowlers - North Battleford Lions and N. Battleford Bonaventure Lions joined together for a pot luck supper. 2 Members provided Christmas Music. The bowlers were delighted with the event as were the 4 bowlers.
